I’m not a knee-jerk reaction kind of guy. When news breaks, I honestly drive people crazy with how little I have to say, but the future is never certain right? Like the story of The Zen Master and The Little Boy, you never know what something could become.
Outwit – As an additional cost to play this card, unflip and commit it.

Outwit is a major moment in the history of this game. Allowing a single facedown Foundation to alter the outcome of a match, no check required… That’s powerful!
Now, having live effects in hidden zones isn’t new. Universus has had Action cards in hand since the dawn. Defensive Actions like Genkai’s Guidance and Run Away have been powerful in multiple formats. However, defensive Actions are inherently awkward with the play style of UVS. Every card you keep in your hand costs you a new card to draw. Every turn you don’t use that Genkai’s Guidance turns your 6-hander into a 5-hander. I think the team at UVS identified there’s just a better way to play Mirror Force… Put it on the board facedown!
As of writing, there aren’t any truly strong Outwits revealed. There’s 1 Secret Rare with the Eri asset effect, but nothing that makes me scared to throw another attack. Probably intentional. New mechanics seem to start at a manageable power level and get boosted over time with this team. A measured approach. I’d expect Outwit to define future formats, but for this season it’ll be more about fun than anything. Here’s to hoping Fire gets a good one with the reveals we have left so I can give Kirishima .II a proper send off this winter.
So I guess we’ll have to hurry up and wait to see what Outwit becomes. Only 2025 knows for sure and I’ll be right here bringing you all the news, card reveals, and top deck lists tho whole way. Until next time, I’ll see you on the tables!
