The Season 3 LCs are just around the corner and that means PROMOS. Shout out to the Creative team because this is what happens when you let this team cook! Here are the cards you’ll get for entry.

Paul Phoenix
Paul is an interesting beast. Clearly the potential is there as he’s on strong symbols and gives cards like Barrier Buster and Cinder Convection Stun 5. You aren’t forced to use a dedicated Kick or Punch package as his bottom Enhance is OPT, so Paul can really branch out and use the best parts of what’s available.

Marshall Law
Holy #### that’s some crazy art! Marshall Law drops in with more reasons IP holders need to stop demanding screen shots on cards and just let this art team do what they do best. He boasts a Magne-type effect, but with a less common trigger. It might be hard for this one to see meta-level play, but he’ll look awesome in the binder!

Ling Xiaoyu
It’s Ojiro… but fair. Ling is one of those, “The more she hits the more it hurts” characters. With the 7 card hand size, she’ll have the cards to give her Enhances plenty of targets. It’ll be interesting how much use she can get out of cards like Hero’s Inspiration or Trinket with low block attacks being hard to come by in many strategies.

Devil Jin
You know those characters that come out and we’re all like “This is BROKEN! HOW COULD THEY!?” Then, they add Once Per Turn to them and we all call it perfectly balanced? Enter Devil Jin! I read this card and started going crazy with 50% attack ratio ideas, before I reread it and noticed the Response is only Once Per Turn. Thank You Lord Stark! Lol But even still I don’t think I realize how powerful this card is…
Devil Jin is a rabbit hole that I hope some players find the time to go down. The top Response changes the way you play turn 1, making checking a 4 guaranteed when going first. OR you could focus on how Jin makes checking a 2, not checking a 2. So, cards like Food Motivated, Grenadier Blast, Charged Shield Breaker, and Especially Rando’s Spirit Gun can be played without the threat of losing the game on an ill-timed 2-check; Game-winning cards that don’t have their game-losing draw backs. Many players will write it off as it’s a 5-hander in a format where characters are building into deadlock on Turn 3, and that’s a question Jin will have to answer with no Searing Glacial Storm to aid him.
Welp, this has been a blast. I think the Game Design team did a great job varying the abilities of each card, making them feel so different, while still keeping the singular thread running through each card; modifying damage. Obviously the Creative Team is going nuts. With Regionals right around the corner, expect to see much more content coming up. If you’re going to Atlanta Good Luck!, I hope to see you there, and if I don’t I’ll see you on the tables!
