Chromes Evolved

Chase cards. Whether you’re a whale or a clown fish, whether you chase the most elusive cards in the game swiping your debit card until the stripe turns red, or you just happen to pull one of the rarest cards in the game in your entry pack, the excitement of that clutch moment is undeniable.

UVS Games has seemingly moved heaven and Earth to add excitement to the game this year. Many changes have been made to almost every aspect of the game and the Chrome Rares aren’t exempt. Battle For Humanity shows off a new feature for the Chromes, signatures by Hajime Isayama himself! Custom signatures. For each character. With little pictures on them for each character! 🤣❤ I mean… yea, that’s AWESOME!!

What you don’t see is that these cards are going to have a new kind of treatment, Reticulated Varnish. Now, I’m not an artist. I’m not on the Creative Team. I have been researching Reticulated Varnish on and off for months to find out exactly what’s the difference. I still don’t really know what it means. 🤣 BUT! I’ve held the Chromes in my hand. All I can tell you is what really matters. The gold signatures pops off the card and feels better than even the Dark Tournament Chromes, which were my favorite.

But how do they stack up the the competition?! That’s ultimately the question. Visually, Dragon Ball Super has been the Gold Standard for TCGs for a long time. I haven’t seen their Fusion World sets, but DBS: Masters is littered with color, intensity, and nostalgia. Bandai just printed Dragon Ball Super signature cards a few years ago, so let’s compare.

The DBS cards have much more freedom to play with color and they use it well. UVS however, uses their choice of texture and treatment well and the Chromes look much better in person that what you’ll get from a computer screen. Then, the AoT signatures are much better; more interesting and specific. It’s clear to say that the UVS team is making a claim for the best looking cards on the market.

My only concern… how are we gonna feel when we go to the next set and there’s no more signatures? … Until then, I’ll see you on the tables!
