The hits just keep on comin this week! The Dark Tournament details haven’t been released yet, but we do know what we’re playing for. Winners of your local pre-releases will earn entry into The Wish Tournament. UVS is trying to spice up the tournament scene with different ways to win pretty valuable prizes, and it looks pretty good from here.

• Winners of Dark Tournaments (AKA Yu Yu Hakusho Prerelease tournaments) will be awarded entry into The Wish Tournament (Webcam March 9-10)
• Top 4 winners of Wish tournament win all four Chrome Rares from YYH:TDT booster set (Top 4 stamped, non-serialized)
• Grand Prize Winner gets 1 choice of 3 wishes
  • 1 of every 2024 UVS product sold in stores
  • Work with UVS to make custom card of yourself
  • 2024 Gencon VIP Experience (Gencon 4-day pass W/O travel or lodging, entry to Gencon tournament, 1 of each product available at Gencon, dinner with UVS team)

2024 Outlook

RLE locations! TWT and its prize structure gives us a lot of info. First, UVS will be appearing at GenCon in 2024 and that’ll be one of the (6?) RLE locations. With that taking one of the NA Central zone RLEs, I’d expect either Chicago a return to Kansas City as the closest options to Omaha, one of the game’s biggest player bases. Here’s to hoping that frees up one of the East RLE’s for DC, Philly, or NYC. DC and NYC are pretty expensive so I’m not expecting that, but Philly is a great city, centrally located, and a fair price point. All I care about for the west is we get back to Vegas!

This probably won’t be the only shake-up to the tournament structure this year. UVS Games knows they need to make splashes and make the game as appealing as possible. I’d expect more events like this every so often, especially near the holiday season. What we still need to know however, is what will be the invite structure for Worlds in 2024 (probably get that info at or after the HLC), where are the first wave of RLEs? When will PSCs start? Are they still called RLEs and PSCs? And how does Spotlight tie-in? For the answers to all these questions and more, keep checking back here and until next time I’ll see you on the tables!

The Wish Tournament will limit Starting Characters to The Dark Tournament set only. The tournament will be in Standard Format with that added restriction.
