RLE Sheffield Wrap-up Thoughts

“WHAT IN THE…”

I had the first response that most people had when seeing this breakdown. What in the F— is ENDEAVOR 2 DOING HERE??? Well, I watched a few matches and I guess I get it… Earth… people believe. That’s the main problem with Earth imo. People believe that it’s just better than other options. Even without a clear dangerous character to pilot the symbol to victory, the Earth engine pushes 3 different characters to 4 spots in Top 16. Props to the players that played it tho; you did a fantastic job of adjusting quickly after a major disruption to your primary strategy.

So… Jiro. Here we are. Again. Is this the Jiro format? We thought we had a Jiro format 3 times before. Froppy, Momo, and a host of other characters shut that noise DOWN. And yet… here we are. Momo is too complex and defensive for a large number of players to pick her up, Froppy has seen better days, Tokoyami got kneecapped by the banned list, and Earth just lost their best Hero. AND THROUGH IT ALL, JIRO HAS REMAINED UNTOUCHED! I don’t want to see her hit the list or anything. On the contrary, I want her to FINALLY show DOMINANCE. Air has so many problem cards that it’s ridiculous and Jiro plays her attacks better than Ojiro II played his. The field isn’t easy, but it’s time for her to earn her respect. The win in the UK was a great 1st step. I’ll be interested to see if she takes another.

At the time of writing, I haven’t watched Brett Pendragon’s round 2 match with Mina II on Chaos against Air Jiro, but that was another 🤯 There was no box in this tournament. All the players were outside of it and as refreshing as it was… WOA! MINA 2??? I can’t wait to dive into that.

Congratulations to all the winners of the weekend; especially Grant Padley taking down the entire continent for the whole season! Thanks for reading, I’ll be back soon with more thoughts on RLE Sheffield, and until then I’ll see you on the tables!
